Liebster Award

This is the first award I’ve accepted.  This is not to say that any of the previous ones I was nominated for were not an honor, they were, every single time.
I just usually don’t feel like answering a bunch of questions about myself.  But I’m trying to be more forthright about myself lately.

The wonderful S/Boulimique (I suck at knowing the right name to call bloggers….sorry!)  over at keep breathing nominated me for the Liebster Award. I already adore the German name aspect of it 🙂

Anyway, moving on.

11 things about me…

1. I can eat more hot wings than all of my male friends.

2. I am addicted to TFLN and PostSecret.  Whenever I’m bored, those are the websites I surf mindlessly.  However, I cannot bring myself to submit anything to either.

3. Though I hate most aspects of my body, I love my naturally green eyes and tend to wear at least light eye make-up daily to accentuate them.

4. I carry hair ties around everywhere because I get fed-up with my hair being loose by the end of every day.  Despite this, I love my long hair and never get it more than trimmed.

5. I always pretend like someone cancelling plans with me is absolutely no big deal but I consider it one of the hardest things I deal with.  I don’t tend to keep grudges, per ce, but I remember the times I’m flaked on for a loooong time.  It gives me the sharpest feelings of being undervalued.

6. I have never been in an accident (as a driver) or gotten a ticket.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t drive like a grandma.  And I’ve definitely rolled some stop signs/red lights.  I just have a knack I suppose.

7. The most angry I ever got was when I told a friend about my history of abuse and they responded with “But you love sex. You can’t have been sexually abused.  It doesn’t work like that.”

8.  I struggle with wanting to be thinner, always.  But I hate comments about how small my breasts are.  And I hate how small my breasts are.

9.  My favorite comedians are Louis C.K., Christopher Titus, and Jim Gaffigan.  In that order.

10. I love pretty much everything Joss Whedon has ever created.  I own a good portion of it too.  Don’t even ask me to pick a favorite.  Don’t think I could.

11.  I hated halter tops until I got a tattoo on my shoulder.  Now the only good way to show it off is with halter tops.

Her questions were:

1. Tell us one happy memory.
This is a recent one actually.  I was giving my dad a bunch of (unofficial) legal advice/support for my stepsister who’d gotten into some trouble and he paused in our conversation and said “I’m really proud of you.  You really know this stuff well.  You need to be a lawyer one day.  I don’t mean that in a pushy way, just that the world needs lawyers like you.”
My dad has never been complimentary of my choice in jobs or careers.  He’s an engineer with two master’s degrees and was always disappointed that I didn’t pursue something related to math or science.  It floored me and elated me when he gave his stamp of approval for the field of law.

2. What is your favorite subject to study (in school or otherwise)?
Law.  Law, law, law, law, law.  Is that a subject?  I mean, I guess high schools don’t teach it.  If we’re talking strictly high school/basic subjects, I guess it would be History or English.  Which combined….MAKE LAW!

3. What is your favorite book?
I am a bibliophile, so I do not have one favorite.  But my fall-backs that I love to re-read yearly are
-A Secret History by Donna Tartt
-Road to Nowhere by Christopher Pike
-Perfect Picture by Jodi Piccoult

4. What song describes your day today?
Probably “These Days” by Chantal Kreviazuk.  Only because feeling super reflective about life and I’m supposed to hang out with Texas this afternoon/evening and that song always makes me think of her (and Germany).

5. Who do you admire most?
Currently, my mentor at work.  She’s amazing in how she handles clients and our bosses.  She’s really been teaching me how to be the best I can be at my job.

6. Describe yourself in six words or less.
Struggling while trying to remain optimistic.

7. How do you practice self care?
Uh.  I’m not sure how to answer this.  Not well?  Probably the only nice thing I do for myself is take hot bubble baths.  Otherwise it’s mostly self-harm, unfortunately.

8. What are your hobbies or talents?
Well, I write. Obviously.  Not sure if I’m considered talented in that area.  I make jewelry, which I’ve been told I’m good at.  I bake, which everyone exclaims over and I am proud of for the most part.  I also play piano and compose music.

9. What do you want to do as a career?  Or, if you are already in your career, are you happy with it?
I am a paralegal.  I don’t necessarily like the area of practice I’m in right now, but I love law.  I will always been involved with law.

10. Do you prefer mornings or evenings?
Evenings.  Always.

11. Give us one positive affirmation about yourself.
I am more than my labels and greater than the sum of my parts.

And now I’m supposed to nominate a buncha blogs I guess.  I suck at that part.  I dunno who already has it and who doesn’t or doesn’t do the whole award thing.

Soooo…if you want it, you’re welcomed to it!  Let me know and I’ll add a link to your blog in this post.

Oh. And questions to answer.  Feel free to answer these for the hell of it too!

1. How do you feel about tattoos?  Do you have any?  Would you get one?
2. What’s your favorite day of the week?
3. Do you prefer hot drinks or cold drinks?
4. What’s your favorite movie to cheer you up or distract you?
5. Do you still have stuffed animals (for you, not children/pets)?
6. Who’s your favorite superhero?
7. What are you looking forward to right now?
8. Travel by plane, boat, or car?
9. Do you do any social networking? How do you feel about social networks?
10. What’s the best holiday experience you’ve had? (can be for any holiday)
11. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received (doesn’t have to be material)?

Have a lovely Friday all!

You are still unique, Moose. Relatives and friends with similar names don’t make us any less than who we are 🙂

Believe me. My given name is the same as an annoying former Playboy Bunny and I rue the connection. Especially when clients comment on it…

Mr. Mooselicker is way better than a former playboy bunny 😉

Great work! I was nominated by a couple of people, and while I really am flattered, I don’t know how to tell who has less than 200 followers and I don’t want to pick amongst the blogs I follow. They’re all great for different reasons. And as for your chicken wing statement….you may enjoy my 2 part post about the time I was at Hooters…lol.

Exactly. That’s part of why I don’t normally participate and I can’t even begin to pick blogs to nominate.

Haha, Hooters is actually a place who’s wings I do not like. I like Frickers and Roosters. Which may be just a local chain. I’m not sure. But I’ll check out the post anyway 😉

Lol. I did think of him when you first commented actually. I thought perhaps you were somehow related, at least blog-wise 😉

I’m lucky enough that the company president and my dept. supervisor are both okay with my tattoo. Since is isn’t remotely suggestive or anything related to brand or logos, it’s fine to be displayed in our company’s building.

If I know I’m going to be meeting with a conservative client though, I wear long sleeves anyway 😉
